Molybdenum Rod
Molybdenum rod is one round cross section, and cylinder-shape metal made of molybdenum. Molybdenum rod shares the properties of molybdenum -- high electrical conductivity, tensile strength at high temperatures, low vapor pressure, and a low coefficient of thermal expansion
There are various surface conditions of molybdenum rod. According to its polishing condition, black and polished molybdenum rod can be divided. When considered its state condition, coiling and straightened molybdenum rods are different. To its making method, forged and grind molybdenum rods can be told apart. While heat Treatment is taken in consideration, molybdenum rods have drawn and annealed types.
During its manufacturing, molybdenum rods should comply with the content table as Chinese national standard -- GB4188-84, as followed.
Name | Content of molybdenum (%) | Totality of other elements (%) | Each Element Content (%) |
Mo1 | ≥99.93 | ≤0.07 | ≤0.01 |
Mo2 | ≥99.90 | ≤0.10 | ≤0.01 |
Besides pure molybdenum rods, alloy molybdenum rod is also manufactured. For example, lanthanated doped molybdenum rod(Mo-La Rod), which is targeted for using in higher temperature applications where ductility is retained after recrystallization for material with smaller cross sections.
Due to properties of molybdenum rod, they are widely used in fabricating heating elements, fasteners and structural components for high temperature HIP, vacuum and hydrogen atmosphere furnaces. It is also available in the lighting, electronics and semiconductor industries. What’s more, it can be found in lamp supports, power tube components and silicon rectifier mounts. It can be made molybdenum poles, wiredrawing, and molybdenum electrode.
